Our Story

About

Black Pebble

The Black Pebble journey began in 2012 operating as a solo freelance designer from our little home fondly referred to as ‘the love shack’. Although picking up the odd project by word of mouth, it was difficult for customers to find us, and equally for customers to know exactly what we could do.

In early 2014, we officially launched Black Pebble Design and gratefully moved into Richmond, NSW to join studios with our friends at Natural Focus Photography. Here our little studio proudly stocked Porters Paints and our furniture painting workshops kicked off.

Before long, within that same year, we moved onto the Richmond main street, launching Black Pebble Design as a fully fledged design store, offering furniture and homewares to compliment our Porters Paints range and our workshops continued to blossom. We fell pregnant and before we knew it, the complete family of three were working in the store. This was a fun time, Jo offering in-home consultations and Matt finding his new talents in the studio painting up a storm, delighting customers with his creations, friendly service and thorough attention to detail.

In 2017, we relocated to Windsor, with an opportunity for a larger store we just couldn’t resist. The store as it is today was established, a most suited space perfectly fitted with workshop, little paint shop, design service and a retail space much bigger and better that we could have imagined. These days Jo runs the store, sometimes with baby in tow, and Matt has returned to his professional career in Real Estate.
